Shale Gas Asia 2011

Assessing the potential for economically viable shale gas in Asia

The explosive growth of shale gas production in the U.S.A. in recent years has sparked a global race to determine which other countries and regions from around the world have the potential to replicate this success.  One of the main areas of focus is Asia, with vast deposits of shale gas thought to be stored in basins across India, China & Indonesia.

Exploration is already under way to find out where the key shale areas will be in these countries and how much is available. Oil & Gas E&P companies and governments from these nations as well as experienced U.S. companies are racing to determine the resource potential and market for shale gas production in these regions and how they can adapt cost-competitive technologies to exploit this potential.

Shale Gas Asia 2011 will be the first truly global summit to unite the most senior executives from the leading Oil & Gas E&P companies in India, Chinaand Indonesia with the national governments and experienced shale gas operators in the U.S.A. to determine the potential for economically viable shale gas in Asia.

EXAMINING THE RESOURCE POTENTIAL AND MARKET FOR SHALE GAS PRODUCTION IN ASIA

Leading E&P companies will be announcing for the first time the initial results of their pioneering research into the resource potential for Shale Gas in India, China & Indonesia and providing a detailed geological analysis of the key basins.  They will also be providing an analysis of the market for shale gas in each country, the key costs that will be involved and their visions for making shale gas production profitable in Asia.

EXAMINING COST EFFECTIVE TECHNOLOGIES & TRANSFERABLE LESSONS FROM THE U.S.A

Meanwhile, for the first time, experienced U.S. shale gas operators will be explaining the transferable lessons from the North American success stories that can be applied to the Asian market.  They will be providing an in-depth explanation of the most cost-competitive geological, drilling and hydraulic fracturing technologies for shale gas production and how they can be adapted to the Asian market.  They will also break down the key costs involved in shale gas production to determine what return on investment could be achieved in the India, China & Indonesia.

ESTABLISHING THE REGULATORY FRAMEWORK TO SUPPORT THE COMMERCIALIZATION OF SHALE GAS IN ASIA

These E&P companies will be joined by the government regulators from India, China, Indonesia and the U.S.A. who will be explaining how they will establish the regulatory framework for supporting the commercialization of shale gas in Asia.  Each national government will explain their planned fiscal policy and their strategy for investing in the production of shale gas.  They will also announce their exploration strategy and how they intend to auction off the key shale gas blocks

INFRASTRUCTURE & ENVIRONMENTAL READINESS

Finally, Speakers at the event will provide further detail on the readiness of the pipeline, transport and service infrastructure around the key potential plays.  Experts will also evaluate what the water availability and land use concerns surrounding shale gas production in these countries to determine whether it can proceed in an environmentally sustainable way.

PARTNERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

The event will be the first opportunity to discover the very research on determining the potential for economically viable shale gas production in India, China & Asia.  It will also be a chance to meet the key players moving forward with shale gas production in Asia and ensure that you are part of the first wave of shale gas partnerships in Asia as they are formed.

SUMMARY OF LEARNING GOALS

Across the two days of this international summit, major international and national oil & gas companies and regulators will present on:

ECONOMIC VIABILITY : Assessing the market for shale gas in India, China & Indonesia, the infrastructure readiness and the visions of major E & P companies from Asia and the U.S.A. for making shale gas production profitable in Asia

COST : Understanding what the costs will be for shale gas production in Asia and how cost-competitive production techniques and technologies from the U.S.A could be transferred to the Indian, Chinese & Indonesian markets

RESOURCE POTENTIAL : Analyzing the geological character of the key shale formations in India, China & Indonesia to determine the quantities of shale gas available and where it is

REGULATORY FRAMEWORK :Governments from India, China & Indonesia will explain how they plan to establish the fiscal and regulatory frameworkfor commercializing shale gas production in their countries and their strategies for auctioning off the key blocks

TECHNOLOGIES : Understanding The Most Cost-Effective Shale Gas Production Technologies And How They Can Be Adapted For Use In Asia, Including:

  • The Latest Developments In Geological, Geophysical & Subsurface Technologies
  • Strategies For Reducing The Cost Of Drilling Technologies
  • Adapting Cost-Effective Hydraulic Fracturing Technologies And Techniques To The Asia-Pacific Region
